Who we are
HomeUpgrade.ie is an Irish website that helps homeowners find SEAI home energy grants. We are the data controller for any personal information you provide through this site. You can contact us at hello@homeupgrade.ie.
What we collect and why
Grant navigator answers
When you use the grant navigator (property type, age, BER rating etc.) this information is processed in your browser to calculate your eligibility. It is not stored on our servers unless you submit the form below.
Contact form (results page)
If you request your grant report, we collect your email address and, if you ask to be connected with an installer, your name, phone number, Eircode or area, county, property details, upgrade interests, budget, timeline, and indicative grant estimate. We use this to email you a PDF summary of your results and, only where you have ticked the installer-sharing consent box, to match you with a suitable contractor.
Partner enquiry form
If you submit the contractor/partner form, we collect your name, company, email, phone, counties covered, services offered, SEAI registration status, and notes to respond to your enquiry and manage contractor matching.
Quarterly updates (newsletter)
If you opt in below your grant results, we store your email address and the route you were classified into (individual grants, One Stop Shop, Warmer Homes, or not eligible) so we can send a short update — at most once a quarter — when SEAI rules or rates change in a way that affects your route. We do not double-opt-in for v1; you can unsubscribe at any time from any update we send, or by emailing us.
Cookies and analytics
We use PostHog for anonymous site analytics (page views, which steps users complete) to help us improve the tool. PostHog only loads if you accept cookies. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies are used.
You can change your cookie preference at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site, which will show the consent notice again on your next visit.
Installer sharing consent
We do not share homeowner contact details with contractors unless the homeowner has clearly requested installer contact. The installer form asks for this consent explicitly: “I agree for HomeUpgrade.ie to share my name, contact details, property details, upgrade interests and indicative grant estimate with up to 3 suitable SEAI-registered installers, retrofit providers or advisors so they can contact me about my project.” You can withdraw this consent at any time by emailing hello@homeupgrade.ie.
How long we keep your data
We retain lead submission data for up to 2 years or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first. We do not sell your personal data. We only share homeowner details with a contractor where installer sharing consent is recorded or where a legacy installer request has been manually reviewed.
Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Have your data corrected or deleted
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission ↗
