We check the grant route first, so you ask the right provider for the right quote.
Free for homeowners. No works should start before SEAI written approval.

HomeUpgrade.ie does not approve grants. Your home is not grant-approved yet. Works must not start before SEAI written approval. You can withdraw consent at any time.

Important: Using a contractor who is not registered with SEAI for the specific measure permanently disqualifies your grant claim. Always verify SEAI registration before agreeing to any work.

How we're funded

HomeUpgrade.ie is free for homeowners. We may earn referral or introduction fees from SEAI-registered installers, retrofit providers or advisors when a homeowner explicitly asks to be contacted. Paid relationships do not change grant rules, estimates or editorial guidance; always verify contractor registration and final grant eligibility with SEAI.

SEAI registered contractors — FAQ

Verified May 2026. Always confirm a contractor's current SEAI registration at seai.ie before agreeing to works.

How do I find an SEAI-registered contractor?

SEAI publishes a register of contractors approved for each grant measure (insulation, heat pump, Solar PV, windows & doors, etc.). You can search the official SEAI contractor register at seai.ie. HomeUpgrade.ie helps you understand which contractor type fits your home and route, and connects you with suitable SEAI-registered installers if you ask us to.

Are HomeUpgrade.ie contractors guaranteed to be SEAI-registered?

HomeUpgrade.ie summarises publicly available contractor data and only routes enquiries to providers who indicate they are SEAI-registered for the relevant measure. We are independent of SEAI and we do not certify contractors — always verify a contractor's current SEAI registration directly at seai.ie before agreeing to any works.

Do all SEAI grants require a registered contractor?

Yes. SEAI individual grants (Better Energy Homes), the One Stop Shop, and Solar PV all require works to be carried out by a contractor registered with SEAI for that specific measure. Using a contractor who is not registered for the measure permanently disqualifies your grant for that upgrade. The Warmer Homes Scheme is different — SEAI appoints the contractor for you.

Can I get more than one quote from SEAI-registered contractors?

You should. SEAI itself recommends getting at least three quotes before choosing a contractor. HomeUpgrade.ie can connect you with up to three suitable SEAI-registered providers in your county for a pre-application quote — works must not start until SEAI has issued written approval.

Where can I check if a contractor is SEAI-registered?

The official SEAI contractor register is on seai.ie under Home Energy Grants → Find a Registered Contractor. Always check the contractor is registered for the specific grant measure you are claiming (e.g. heat pump, attic insulation, solar PV) — registration for one measure does not cover others.
