How do I find an SEAI-registered contractor?▾

SEAI publishes a register of contractors approved for each grant measure (insulation, heat pump, Solar PV, windows & doors, etc.). You can search the official SEAI contractor register at seai.ie. HomeUpgrade.ie explains contractor types and lists possible providers; current registration and availability must be checked separately.

Are HomeUpgrade.ie contractors guaranteed to be SEAI-registered?▾

No. Directory entries and registration labels are based on stored information and are not a current verification or endorsement. Check the official SEAI register for the specific grant measure, the provider’s identity and current service coverage before agreeing work.

Do all SEAI grants require a registered contractor?▾

Yes. SEAI individual grants (Better Energy Homes), the One Stop Shop, and Solar PV all require works to be carried out by a contractor registered with SEAI for that specific measure. Check the relevant scheme’s registration requirements before appointing a provider. The Warmer Homes Scheme is different — SEAI appoints the contractor for you.

Can I get more than one quote from SEAI-registered contractors?▾

You should. SEAI itself recommends getting at least three quotes before choosing a contractor. You can request introductions through HomeUpgrade.ie, subject to provider availability. Obtain a grant offer before starting a new grant-funded project; ask SEAI about any published transitional exceptions.

Where can I check if a contractor is SEAI-registered?▾

The official SEAI contractor register is on seai.ie under Grants → Find a Registered Professional. Always check the contractor is registered for the specific grant measure you are claiming (e.g. heat pump, attic insulation, solar PV) — registration for one measure does not cover others.
